Hi, I’m James West.
As long as I can remember art was my superpower, impressing my classmates with my drawing skills. This passion led me to university, where I immersed myself in all the design knowledge I could which later helped me break into the industry as a Junior Designer in a London Design Studio. This was a turning point as not only did I learn the design tools and skills, creative process and the way agency life worked, I also met my wife who was my, then, Design Director.
Together we moved to New Zealand where I later took the leap into the freelance world, learning and growing with each agency experience. Returning to the UK in 2021, I’ve had the privilege of working with some great creative teams on everything from full-scale advertising campaigns and brand rollouts to corporate identities and packaging design. Every project is an opportunity to grow and sharpen my skills.
Today, I’m still fueled by that same passion of art and creation, now with big agency experience but the agility of a one-man band. Working with me means you’ll be getting that one-on-one attention and true investment in helping your business or project thrive.

for design
My mates with conventional jobs often think I spend my days simply “colouring in”… and there's some truth to that.
However, there's a whole process that surrounds the “colouring in” part including meeting with clients, conducting research, gathering inspiration, sketching, producing and pitching presentations as well as handling contracts, marketing and accounting.
While the "colouring in" part is definitely fun, it’s just one piece of the puzzle. The real reward comes from creating something meaningful that both I and my clients can be proud of. It’s this blend of creativity and strategy that keeps me passionate about what I do every day.
